Teaching pre-reading & pre-writing same/different observation skills can be fun using Ricardo's BINGO game.
This game uses pictures of Ricardo doing different activities that the children will need to look at carefully to spot the differences and similarities.
Benefits
Encourages practice of visual identification and recognition skills, ie. what is the same and what is different in each picture, essential for recognising individual letters and words
Playing games is also excellent for encouraging the development of social skills like turn taking, rule following and good sportsmanship.
Recommended for 2-4 yo but suitable for all ages in need of learning same/different visual discrimination skills – like spot the difference, find what is the same etc - essential for developing good pre-reading/pre-writing skills.
Great for in class or at home learning: table top learning hub, Daily 5, floor time, extension activity or rewards.
With adult supervision, as age-appropriate, children can be given the opportunity to cut out the cards and game instruction page themselves, this aspect is good for addressing skills like eye-hand co-ordination, fine motor control and bilateral integration which means using two hands together.
