This second series provides opportunity for children who need extra practice at these skills, or for those like my daughter, who absolutely loved these types of activities and just wanted to do more!

Each of the 3 workbooks in Series 2, take a systematic approach and this Workbook 1 uses ‘Odd One Out and Marching Pair’ activities to teach Pre-K; kindergarten, preschool or year 1 students to discriminate or notice big and small differences in images which is such a vital pre-reading and pre-writing skill.

Being an Occupational therapist, I have conducted many formal visual processing assessments with children of varying ages; also having home-schooled (and still doing so😊) all 5 of my own children, I have seen & tried different workbooks to help develop pre-reading and pre-writing visual skills, and through these professional and personal experiences over the years, I identified a need!

I have developed my own series of pre-reading/pre-writing visual skills workbooks to assist educators and parents working in this age range as I found some workbooks advanced too quickly and didn’t give children time to learn, practise, develop and enjoy doing the specific activities before they became too complex requiring writing.

I have designed all activities in Series 2, Workbooks 1 and 2, to require only simple pre-handwriting skills, ie. the ability to draw a line to match an answer or draw a circle around the correct answer.  This will encourage children who are ready and wanting to learn but won't frustrate them if they are not quite up to writing answers.

By Workbook 3, children who are ready, will be given opportunity to copy and draw certain simple parts of pictures and draw lines through matching picture mazes.

Recommended for 4-6 yo, but suitable for all ages, both younger and older, who need further practice to assist the development of their visual skills with these fun and engaging developmentally appropriate pen/paper tasks – an essential foundation for developing confident early reading, writing and spelling skills.

Brilliant to use at home or in class as a morning starter, table top learning hub, or 5-10mins before a break.
